So, I got home last night after work, and I'll admit that I was kind of tired, and a little bummed out not to see a big box sitting right in front of my door. But that's when I noticed the sticker from UPS on my door, which meant that they'd either tried to deliver it or that a neighbor had it. I was hoping it was either the nice new neighbor to the right or the noisy girls to the left because I didn't want to drag it across the road.
When I read the note from the UPS man, it said: "hid behind the bushes." OMG. I couldn't believe he'd figured out a way to wedge it between the prickly green bushes and the front of my house. And frankly, I didn't know how I was going to drag it out. However, I was determined, and I got quite the workout figuring it out.
After I dragged the box inside, I ran upstairs to change into workout clothes. And I grabbed a pair of scissors. I sat down on the floor, sliced open the box, started unpacking the parts, and put them all on the floor.
Now, you have to know that I'm not the most mechanically inclined person out there, and I usually make my daughter assemble everything because she's better at it than me. However, the directions clicked for me, and even after installing the handlebars backwards the first time, I figured it out.
I PUT MY OWN FITDESK TOGETHER. I need to go and put that statement on Amazon.com as a review for other non-mechanical people who may be experiencing a bit of hesitation. It took me about 75 minutes, but I'm sure that someone who is better with assembly projects could have had it together in 45 minutes or less. The instructions could have been written better (I'd do a great job, FitDesk!) but I liked it how all the nuts and bolts were already on the piece of equipment where they belonged. It was really a lot of tightening and not too confusing.
And, now the results: I love it. It's nice and quiet, and I rode 25 miles last night and a mile this morning while my coffee was brewing. It folds up for easy storage--I can always put it in a corner if I need to make room (for now, it'll sit in front of the downstairs television so that we can watch tv, work on the computer, or play the Wii while riding.)
I don't think I've been this excited about a purchase since I bought My K-Cup or since I received a Kindle from my mom for Christmas.
Let the biking revolution begin!
