How much is too much and how much is too little for a professional wardrobe? I haven't decided quite yet, but I feel as if I'm verging on too much. Luckily, I'm a good shopper, combining discounts with coupons, so I'm running at about a 65% discount on everything, but, here's what I have in my W (work) wardrobe.
Skirts:
black pleated skirt (sale, $35, NY&Co)
black pencil skirt (sale, Macy's, $20?)
black tulip skirt (sale, Macy's, $35)
Pants:
black dress pants (sale, NY&Co, $40?)
gray dress pants (sale, Macy's, $18)
nice trouser jeans (sale, Loft, $25)
Dresses:
black dress (sale, DownEast, $20)
gray dress (sale, Macy's $18)
Sweaters:
purple, red, blue/light blue, pink/dark pink, black with gray snakeskin trim, black with pearl buttons, navy blue with black trim (need: another great black sweater, mine got all dog haired)...Most of these are from NY&Co, and I picked most up on sale for $10-$20
Jackets:
short black blazer(Kohl's, sale+Kohl's cash, $10)
serious black blazer (NY&Co, sale, $45)
long gray jacket (Bohme, sale $25)
swingy gray jacket (Target, sale $14)
Camis:
purple with floral detail, gray with ruffles, white with lace trim, black, ruffled light blue cami...these are all from NY&CO, and probably all in the $7-15 range. (need: a few more camis...these are so versatile, and I wear one almost every day...)
Shirts:
white satin, blue satin (NY$C0, each $10 on sale)
green with ruffle (Macy's, $18 on sale)
purple with gray pattern (Macy's, $9 on sale)
white with black pattern (NY&Co, $10 on sale)
+ purple with ruching, burgundy with pleated ruffles, white with black pattern, black with ruffles on top, black with ruffles down the middle, longish pink top...from the Loft and NY&Co, probably $15-$20 each, either on sale or with a gift card
If someone who was good at math plugged all of these items into a magical multiplying calculator, I'm sure there'd be about 7,893 combinations, especially when you add in jewelry...I am going to figure out the perfect amount of work clothes one day. :) (Yes....I've been trying to do this for years..!!)
