It's the second week of Nano, and I'm sitting at 20018. Jaeme helped my break through my writing wall last night. We went out for dinner last night (I had compliant chicken, brown rice, and veggies) and then continued our lovely tradition of getting her a craft project to work on while I wrote. On the drive home, I told her where my story had stalled, and she said ONE thing that helped me figure out where to take the story next.
Sometimes writer's block feels insurmountable, but believe me, sometimes all it takes for a cure is just one new thought. If you can't have that thought on your own, talk to your kid or a friend or your significant other. Because you never know where that little hammer is going to appear. When it does, grab it and don't let go. Smash down as many bricks as you can and keeping going until you can't go any longer.
20018.
