Today at work, I was watching it snow. The snowflakes were swirling across the parking lot, and all of the designers were trying to convince me that it was really just a special effect caused by snow blowing wind across the roof. I knew better, unfortunately.
I looked out the window, and I saw a hundred birds swooping across the power lines and down through the parking lot and back up again. They all lined up neatly on the power line, and even where there were spaces, errant birds filled in the blanks. I thought about the old saying of having all of your ducks in a row and wondered how come there's no saying about having all your birds on a line.
Speaking of ducks in a row, my notes for Nano are coming along. I don't usually make notes, but in my window-staring time, I am starting to hear the parts of my story being revealed. I am anxious to start writing and although I know a couple of people who have started (shhh!), I won't until it's officially November 1. I will be Nano compliant without complaint.
