I don't know how many minutes it takes to ride 20 miles on my new bike yet, but that's my goal. In reading the book "Spark," I'm reminded of the importance of exercise in combatting stress, anxiety, and depression. My book is full of highlighted notes on studies that show that exercise is long-term more effective against anxiety/depression than anti-depressants. I'm looking for my sweet spot for not just reducing body fat but also for increasing my happiness.
One thing I can say, as I type this from my FitDesk, is that right now, I do love being able to pedal in my pajamas and watch whatever I want on Netflix and help Jaeme with her homework all at the same time. These are all things I couldn't do at the gym. The FitDesk really takes away my excuses for not exercising. I'm using the little Acer that I got from my dad, and it's the perfect size for the FitDesk. Hey, maybe one of these days, I'll write or edit a novel from here.
With the addition of my FitDesk to my life, I've also selected a specific eating plan. I was going to do a generic low carb/gluten free, but I have decided to do Primal Blueprint. I like the food lists, and with my bike, I can add the fitness component: 2-5 hours of slow steady cardio a week, short sprints, and periods of lifting heavy things. I've got every single thing I need to do this plan now right here at home.
I might even do the Primal Blueprint jumpstart in February. What a better way to celebrate my love for being happy, being creative, and being fit? I've lost 6.5 pounds this month doing my own thing with no exercise, so hopefully a bit more structure+exercise will help me reach my goal of losing another 15 pounds by June 1.
I am at 10 miles in 23 minutes. I'm gonna keep going. :)
